Informatics & Telecommunications Engineer, PhD Student

Vicky Fiska holds a Diploma in Informatics & Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM) since 2020 and a Master’s Degree in Medical Informatics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) since 2022. She was a Robotics & Coding Educator at the Robotics Academy of the University of Macedonia in Greece (UoM) from 2015 to 2018, educating children on designing, programming and controlling fully-functional models and robots that carry out life-like automated tasks, and a Computer Science Instructor from 2017 to 2020 for the Center of Talented Youth (CTY) online program at Anatolia College in Thessaloniki, Greece. She has worked as a Software Engineer at MALVI Design from 2017-2021, where she was in charge of a wide range of software projects, ranging from designing and developing VR & AR applications to implementing e-commerce solutions. Since 2015, she is collaborating as a Coding Instructor with the Greek NGO Mataroa for the Codegirls program sponsored by the U.S. Mission to Greece and for the Coding Bees program sponsored by Google.org, striving to close the gender gap in the technology and engineering sectors. She is also a proud IVLP Alumna of the “Hidden No More 2019”, a U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Since 2021, she is a PhD student in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at UoWM with a PhD thesis topic on “Research and development of diagnostic and therapeutic closed loop systems for the control of neuroendocrinological disorders” and at the same year she joined as a Research Associate the Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory (MKLab) of the Information Technologies Institute (ITI) in the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).
