MELIORA Clinical Trial Workshop at CERTH: Turning Ideas into Digital Tools for Women’s Health
Last week, partners from across Europe met at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) in Thessaloniki for a hands-on clinical trial workshop as part of the MELIORA project. The goal was clear: bring together clinicians, researchers and engineers to fine-tune the digital tools and protocols that will soon support large-scale clinical studies with women across Europe.
A Hands-On Rehearsal for the Trials
During the workshop, partners walked through the full clinical flow step by step – from recruitment and onboarding to data collection and follow-up. This “live rehearsal” helped the team:
- Validate the study protocols in real-life scenarios
- Identify and resolve potential bottlenecks early
- Align procedures across all participating clinical sites
By combining perspectives from lifestyle medicine, psychology, data science and engineering, the team ensured that the upcoming trials are not only scientifically robust, but also practical and user-friendly for both participants and healthcare professionals.

Turning Ideas into Digital Tools
A key focus of the workshop was the MELIORA digital ecosystem: the mobile app, backend services and dashboards that will support healthy lifestyle interventions and continuous monitoring. Clinicians and researchers tested the tools on-site, providing immediate feedback that will now be integrated into the next development iteration.
This close collaboration between domain experts and engineers is central to MELIORA’s vision: transforming evidence-based lifestyle interventions into accessible, engaging digital experiences for women across different countries and contexts.
Looking Ahead
The workshop at CERTH marks an important milestone as MELIORA moves from design and development to real-world implementation. With protocols aligned, tools refined and teams coordinated, the project is now gearing up for the launch of its large-scale clinical trials.
A big thank you to all partners for the constructive discussions, hands-on collaboration and shared commitment to advancing women’s health through digital innovation. Onward to the next phase of MELIORA!
