PREDICTOM – 2nd Annual Consortium Meeting

PREDICTOM – 2nd Annual Consortium Meeting

The PREDICTOM Consortium held its second annual plenary meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, from Monday, 22 to Tuesday, 23 September 2025.The meeting, this year hosted by CERTH, kicked off with a warm welcome followed by engaging discussions through the triple+ IHI initiative, with participation from PROMINENT and AD-RIDDLE projects. Partners explored actionable ways to leverage common ground and collaborate effectively to save cost, resources, and time.

Breakout sessions to drive collaboration

In interactive breakout sessions, partners responsible for biomarkers, algorithms and models, the data collection and analytics platform, the ongoing study, public involvement, guidelines and dissemination worked in smaller groups to present overall progress, highlight challenges around data collection and analysis and define next-step priorities.

The outcomes from the breakout sessions set the stage for the in-depth conversations on Day 2, and brought all partners together to focus on identified areas. Valuable exchange and alignment followed regarding streamlining processes along the patient journey, building consensus on the analytics database, exploring the risk stratification approach and reviewing the consortium’s publication strategy, with ambitious plans to report and disseminate project outputs effectively and on time. As in last year’s meeting, the Scientific Advisory Board was highly engaged, providing valuable input and guiding discussions on sustainability and strategies to maximize the adoption and impact of the project’s results.

Hands-on workshop to advance clinical assessment

As part of the project, a study is currently ongoing aiming to involve 4000 individuals at risk of developing dementia. After completing a series of online assessments, more than 600 participants, both at high and low risk, will be selected to undergo more specialized tests at clinical sites. To support this, Day 2 featured a hands-on workshop in which clinical partners received practical training on three key assessments: the hearing test, eye tracking, and EEG testing. These tools are expected to deliver valuable dementia-related biomarkers, enhancing the project’s ability to detect early cognitive changes and improve evaluation.

CERTH was represented by Spiros Nikolopoulos (WP1 Biomarkers Lead and member of the project’s Management Board), along with team members Kostas Georgiadis, Ioulietta Lazarou, Vasilis Alepopoulos, Giorgos Giannios and Margarita Grammatikopoulou. CERTH’s role in WP1 encompasses the integration of the Banking App and the implementation of a developed EEG protocol, both aimed at improving the detection of early-stage cognitive decline. The team was excited to host this year’s meeting and looks forward to continuing with the next steps in PREDICTOM regarding the analysis of data collected during the ongoing study.

PREDICTOM is an international cross-sector initiative aimed at making dementia diagnostics more accessible to the public, and enhancing the detection and management of Alzheimer’s disease through a screening platform.
