Engage in a Conversation with Socrates at the Noesis AI Exhibition
The ongoing exhibition, “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities & Challenges,” at the Thessaloniki Science Center and Technology Museum NOESIS, provides a comprehensive look into the dynamic world of artificial intelligence (AI), examining its rapid advancements, high expectations, and the societal concerns it raises. Highlighting ongoing research and significant findings from five CERTH-ITI projects, the exhibition offers an overall perspective on AI’s capabilities and challenges. Interactive displays showcase AI’s transformative potential while addressing risks like privacy invasion, bias and misinformation, encouraging visitors to contemplate on AI’s dual role as a revolutionary tool and a complex societal challenge.

At the ArtCast4D demonstration, visitors can engage in a conversation with an avatar of the ancient philosopher Socrates, exploring the extensive impact of disinformation on everyday life. User is introduced to a broad narrative about disinformation and its applications across all aspects of modern life. Additionally, user can have an interactive chat with a VR avatar, powered by an AI language model, on various facets of disinformation, creating an immersive wisdom exhibition experience. This narrative and interaction is enhanced by wall projections featuring relevant audiovisual content.

The exhibition’s pre-opening event on April 26 included an engaging discussion with the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, and AI researcher, Yiannis Assael. Their dialogue explored crucial questions about AI and automatic content generation, setting the stage for the exhibition’s exploration of AI’s vast potential and the ethical, environmental, and societal challenges it presents. Visitors had then the opportunity to explore the exhibition’s key themes presented by Dr. Ioannis Kompatsiaris, Director of the Information Technologies Institute.
