Low Resource Artificial Intelligence

The lorAI project aims to establish the Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies (KInIT) as a European Centre of Excellence in Low Resource Artificial Intelligence (LRAI). By developing AI systems capable of performing effectively with limited data and computational resources, lorAI promotes sustainable, trustworthy, and accessible AI that enhances Europe’s digital sovereignty. Through collaboration with leading partners (ADAPT, DFKI, and CERTH), the project strengthens KInIT’s research excellence, talent development, and innovation capacity. A key component of lorAI is WP4-Raising Research Excellence, which focuses on empowering human capital and institutional growth, in which our team is highly involved. In particular, T4.1, led by CERTH establishes a Training Deskand a Catalogue of Training Assets to standardise and ensure high-quality, up-to-date educational resources aligned with competence models. T4.2 delivers structured training programmes for researchers and staff, covering technical LRAI skills, transferable competences, project management, funding acquisition, and innovation practices. Finally, in T4.4, coordinated with DFKI, expands KInIT’s Mobility Programme, creating a Mobility Catalogue and facilitating exchange opportunities with academia and industry across Europe. Collectively, these efforts ensure a sustainable ecosystem for continuous learning, collaboration, and excellence in Low Resource AI research and innovation.
