MELIORA 3rd Consortium Meeting in Dubrovnik: Aligning Progress, Trials and Digital Innovation for Women’s Health

MELIORA 3rd Consortium Meeting in Dubrovnik: Aligning Progress, Trials and Digital Innovation for Women’s Health

On 27–28 May 2026, partners from across Europe gathered in Dubrovnik, Croatia, for the 3rd Consortium Meeting of the MELIORA project. The meeting brought together clinical, research, technical and dissemination partners to review progress, discuss ongoing activities, and align the next steps of the project.

Over two productive days, the consortium had the opportunity to exchange updates across work packages, reflect on current challenges, and strengthen coordination as MELIORA continues moving forward with its clinical, digital and research objectives.

The meeting also included a presentation of preliminary findings from the Data Collection Campaigns, delivered by Dr. Anna Maria Krooupa. The results offered an early overview of the collected data and supported discussions on how these findings informed the refinement of MELIORA’s digital tools and AI-supported components. Partners also reflected on next steps for further analysis and how the insights from the campaigns can support the ongoing clinical work.

Discussing the Ongoing RCTs

A central part of the meeting focused on the implementation of the ongoing randomised controlled trials across the participating countries. Partners discussed RCT progress, recruitment and implementation experiences, as well as country-specific challenges and lessons learned from Greece, Spain, Lithuania and Sweden.

These discussions were particularly important for ensuring consistency across clinical sites, addressing practical barriers early, and supporting the smooth continuation of the trial activities. By bringing together clinical teams, researchers and implementation partners, the consortium was able to reflect on both the scientific and operational aspects of the RCTs.

Technical Updates and Digital Tools

The meeting also included dedicated technical sessions on the MELIORA digital ecosystem, including the MELIORA app, digital tools, dashboards and supporting services. Partners presented progress, current challenges and next development steps, while also discussing how feedback from the clinical and research teams can be translated into practical refinements.

As part of the technical discussions, the CERTH technical team, including Vicky Fiska, contributed to the exchange around the implementation of the Personalised Lifestyle Coaching system and the integration of MELIORA’s digital tools, helping to connect research requirements with technical development priorities.

Looking Ahead

The second day of the meeting focused on additional work package updates, dissemination and communication activities, publication planning, financial and reporting matters, cluster activities and synergies, as well as Steering Committee and General Assembly discussions.

The Dubrovnik meeting marked another important milestone for MELIORA, offering space for reflection, coordination and forward planning. With the RCTs underway and the digital tools continuing to evolve, the project is entering a key phase where clinical implementation, technical development and scientific analysis come together.

A warm thank you to all partners for the constructive discussions, valuable contributions and continued commitment to advancing women’s health through evidence-based lifestyle interventions and digital innovation.
